the inaugural competition will be held on Lough Corrib, Ireland on the 28th and 29th of August 2010. The committee are in the process of contacting colleges/universities and alumni with regard to entering a team in this competition.
Places are limited and will be granted on a first come first served basis. A team consists of 2 anglers comprising of a member of staff, a current student or an alumni. In the interests of conservation, the competition will be ‘catch and release’ with points awarded for trout length. Fly-fishing from a drifting boat will be the method of choice for this competition. All fly-fishing techniques are permissible including wet fly, dry fly and dapping.
The cost of the competition is 250 euro per person for 2 nights and 290 euro per person for 3 nights. The price covers Bed and Breakfast for 2 or 3 nights, packed lunch, dinner, boat and local fishing guide (or gillie) for 2 days. Entrants are allowed source sponsorship to lower the costs involved in coming to this competition.
